There are various articles in January looking at aesthetic trends in 2025. We have sifted through these and given you our perspective. What is clear all predictions point to people seeking and being recommended a more natural aesthetic outcome. This is being termed the “undetectable era”. What does this mean exactly? Less fillers that can cause an obvious fullness in the face and used incorrectly by some to improve skin laxity. Now, we will see a focus on long-lasting, regenerative treatments that restore skin.

Laser key to skin regeneration

Laser ticks all these boxes. How does it work? It works by inducing dermal regeneration, not only getting rid of signs of aging immediately but by improving skin elasticity and texture as the dermis continues to regenerate. The results especially with the Lumenis Ultrapulse Alpha resurfacing can last up to 10 years. Money well spent! There is also a strong evidence base for the effect of laser on skin. This is in contrast to some of the newer alternatives injectables that claim to help regeneration. Aesthetic trends 2025 can be summed up as….year of the laser!

Focussed areas of laser treatment

Other key trends will be younger people wanting treatments for signs of aging rather than leaving their skin until there is significant textural change. There will likely be a focus on certain areas like the peri-ocular and peri-oral areas. The peri-orbital area is one of the first areas of the face to show fine lines and wrinkles associated with ageing. Blepharoplasty is one of the most common procedures for plastics surgeons, but we think focussed peri-ocular laser will be popular this year and may be an alternative or done in addition.

Newsweek highlights areas outside of the face, such as the hands and decolletage, sometimes forgotten about will also get more focus. These areas are difficult to protect from UV radiation and can get a lot of sun damage. You have my sympathy here! My hands are currently going through Lumenis M22 laser rejuvenation treatment. Thankfully they are are looking so much better already!

Hands and décolletage laser will become more popular in 2025

The hands are commonly sun damaged with pigmentation spots, dry skin and dermal thinning due to difficulty protecting from UV damage.

Cutting edge combination treatments

Finally, we are going to be involved more in combined treatment cases. The face-lift, which is an increasingly common procedure, is now being combined with laser resurfacing either before or after. The two procedures complement each other in that the laser cannot fully eradicate skin laxity, whereas the face-lift does. Equally, the latter does not improve the overall skin quality, such a sun damage, pigment or vascular change, fine lines and smaller wrinkles. The two treatments combined can offer the most optimal result.

The other treatment we can offer in 2025 – one of the only teams in the UK that does – is RECELL. This is a ‘spray-on-skin’ that can be combined with laser resurfacing to speed up re-epithelisation and therefore healing and recovery. It can also correct pigmentation issues, so is ideal for those that want minimal downtime, allowing people to be back to their busy lives as soon as possible. It is also a useful adjunct for those who have pigmentation or sun-damage issues and these are very common.
